Can Santa Claus and the stork both fit down the chimney?

For those not in the know.  My son is due to be born on Christmas Day.  I’ll wait for it.  Ok now that the obligatory ”ohhh, that’s too bad” is out of the way, let me say this.  What’s in a birth-date?

I know a few people whose birthday is around Christmas.  My brother Justin’s is the 30th of December.  I honestly think it’s always bugged him that his birthday was so close to Christmas.  I can’t blame him, he always got the shaft.  All his b-day gifts wrapped in Christmas paper and ending up under the tree just about every year.  Sorry bro.

But in my thoughts I figured out no one really has a perfect birthday.  I have a nephew that was born on the 4th of July, so he shares his with America.  When you’re kid it must had been really fun to go to school on your birthday.  My birthday is in late August and I never had to go to school on it but I did always get “back to school” clothes and honestly, who wants that.  Plus sharing your birthday with other no-so-fun events stinks too.  My grandmother died on my 18th birthday.  So that’s always a nice memory.  And now I can’t imagine if my birthday was on September 11th.  Or sharing it with someone like Hitler.   I guess sharing your birthday with Jesus isn’t that bad.  My point being your birthday is just that, yours.  It’s just another day for everyone else.  Life still goes on around you.  Though it is everyone else’s duty to make your day special.  My wife and I have to make our son’s birthday a special day even if it already is a special day.  If you have a crappy birth date tell me and let me know how people made it special for you.
